TEVISTON, California — The State Water Resources Control Board’s June 2, 2026 report documents additional operating support for the Teviston Community Services District water system. In an agreement amended in April, the listed funding for daily operations and maintenance increased by $352,219 to a total of $630,195.
What the funding is meant to support
The board’s official Operation and Maintenance table identifies project D2217035 and Teviston public water system CA5400641. It describes the grant category as O&M (Administrator System) and states that funds will partially support day-to-day operations and maintenance while an appointed administrator is assigned.
This is an important distinction for customers: the funding supports continued system operation under administrative oversight; it is not a published announcement that a treatment plant was completed, groundwater contamination fully resolved or water bills automatically reduced. Other projects or resources may be needed to achieve long-term compliance.
Why outside administration exists
In August 2023, the state appointed engineering firm Stantec to administer the district’s drinking-water system because of longstanding service and contamination issues. The 2026 funding amendment shows the state continuing to commit operational resources to the system, but it does not establish a timetable for ending that arrangement.
Residents may ask the administrator and regulators for recent maintenance milestones, staffing and repair plans, outage reporting procedures, quarterly water-test results and how the latest agreement affects service. Water-quality advisories should always be checked independently of financial reports.
